Tastely ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Tastely mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our app.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address, username, display name, and optional profile photo. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email from those providers.
Usage Data: We collect information about how you use the app, including movies you save, rate, and add to boards, people you follow, and boards you create.
Device Information: We may collect device type, operating system version, and unique device identifiers for analytics and crash reporting.
We do not collect:
- Payment or financial information
- Precise location data
- Contact lists or address books
- Health or biometric data
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and maintain the app's features (boards, ratings, recommendations, social features)
- To personalize your experience with taste-based recommendations
- To enable social features (following, activity feeds, shared boards)
- To communicate with you about your account or app updates
- To improve and optimize the app
- To detect and prevent abuse or security issues
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with:
- Service providers: We use Supabase for backend infrastructure and authentication. Your data is stored securely on their servers.
- Third-party APIs: We use The Movie Database (TMDB) API to provide movie data. Your personal information is not shared with TMDB.
- Other users: Your public profile, ratings, boards, and activity are visible to other Tastely users who follow you or view your profile. You control what you share.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights and safety.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely using Supabase with row-level security policies. We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit (TLS) and at rest. While no system is 100% secure, we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
5. Your Rights and Choices
- Access: You can view your data within the app at any time.
- Export: You can export your boards and ratings as CSV files.
- Delete: You can request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us.
- Correction: You can update your profile information at any time through the app.
6. Children's Privacy
Tastely is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
7. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law.
8. International Users
Tastely is operated from the United Kingdom. If you access the app from outside the UK, your information may be transferred to and processed in the UK or other countries where our service providers operate.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app or by email. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
